BACKGROUND Google, amongst many other things, is committed to educating future generations in the fields of technology and innovation. They use their Google Shops in and around London to host free workshops. The latest in the series, Summer Squad, was aimed at making coding accessible to 8-14 year olds.
TASK In order to raise awareness of the programme and therefore encourage sign-up, we first created an identity. This had to capture the playful, interactive nature of the activities whilst aligning with Google’s existing aesthetic. This identity was then applied to a range of collateral used in and around the workshops themselves. Icons representing each module were also created and the designs applied to badges and stamps which were awarded to the children, recognising what they had achieved. The client reported a 34% uplift in scheme sign-up and a 27% uplift in attendance based on the previous year.
